History of Towersey Playing Fields

1965 First Towersey Festival to raise funds for the village Memorial Hall

1968 the Towersey playing fields were purchased by Dennis Manners, Louis Rushby, Earnst Worland and Frank Honniball for the princely sum of £4,400.

1971 Chinnor Rugby Club were granted a 25 year lease.

1972 the original Clubhouse, now condemned, was built, by members of Chinnor Rugby Club and the local community.

1972 the Towersey Playing Fields were formally donated to the village and have been held in trust for the benefit of Towersey residents and the wider community ever since. The Parish Council serves as the Custodian Trustee, but the day-to-day management and development are handled by the Towersey Playing Fields Committee, (TPFC).

1986 Chinnor Rugby Club moved to their current site on Kingsey Road and the clubhouse was sold to the TPFA for the sum of £7,000.
