The existing clubhouse has been condemned and cannot be used. Without new facilities, the Playing Fields risk becoming financially unsustainable and losing their role as a community hub.
The project is being led by the Towersey Playing Fields Committee (TPFC), a registered charity run entirely by volunteers from the local community. The Playing Fields are owned by the Parish Council, with TPFC holding a 150-year lease to manage and improve the site. The Trustees and Committee bring together a wide range of skills - including project management, finance, business, teaching, marketing, and surveying - and are supported by specialist sub-groups for fundraising and grounds management.
Our target is £1.25 million to fully fund the new Pavilion and associated site improvements.
Through local fundraising events, donations, and grants, we’ve already raised over £250,000. This has funded a new children’s play area, a storage facility, and early-stage Pavilion project costs.
Plans include two full-sized sports pitches, modern changing facilities, a social space with catering, an event/meeting room, a coffee shop, ample parking with EV charging, and sustainable design throughout.
Everyone! Local sports clubs, families, community groups, businesses, and visitors from the wider Thame area will all be able to use the facilities.
Funding will come from a mix of community donations, fundraising events, sponsorship, and grant applications. We aim to fund 100% of the project without commercial debt.

The Pavilion will likely be built in phases, depending on fundraising progress. We’ve already completed Phase 1 (play area) and Phase 2 (storage shed). Phase 3 (new Pavilion) is ongoing.
